Marissa was born September 13, 1989, in Center, to Jimmy Carol Nash and Terica Jackson. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Watson & Sons Funeral Home, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at White Rock Cemetery in Shelby County. In 1971 she joined the English Department at the Spartanburg Day School where she taught high-school English for twenty-four years.Marissa Shea Nash, 29, of Center, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, in Center. In preparation for entering the Spartanburg School System as a teacher in 1969, she completed the first of her two master’s degrees from Converse College. Having studied piano for many years, Ann was an accomplished pianist, and as a young wife and mother she taught piano lessons. In later years, Ann was a member of the bell choir. Shortly after moving to Spartanburg, Ann and Don became members of the First Presbyterian Church where both taught Sunday School. In 1953 she married Don Dobbs, and in 1955 they moved to Spartanburg, SC where Don joined the faculty at Wofford College and taught Biology for forty years. Ann grew up in East Point and completed her BA at Agnes Scott College in Decatur. Born on January 24, 1933, she was the daughter of Carlos Mason Hemperley of East Point, GA and Willilu Burch of Eastman, GA. At age 10, her father passed away and the family moved to Fort Valley, GA, where her mother’s family had lived for generations.Īnn Hemperley Dobbs died peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina. The family moved to Houston, TX, when Lynn was in first grade, where she had a happy childhood. Anthony Leonard Ruffo and Carolyn Wilson Ruffo. Lynn Ruffo Southerland was born February 21, 1946, in Emory (Atlanta), GA, daughter of the late Dr. Paulk nieces and nephews Deb Brown (Glenn), Rob Brendle (Maurie), Matt Paulk (Nikki), Casey Paulk (Traci), Andy Paulk, Robert Ruffo (Meghan), Stephen Ruffo (Nan), and Christi Ruffo and numerous cousins and friends. She also leaves behind older brother Joseph L. Southerland (Andrea) of Spring Hill, TN four grandchildren – Madelyne, Zachary, Murphy, and Daniel. Southerland of Rochester, NY and Anthony Z. She is survived by her two sons – Wilson T. LYNN RUFFO SOUTHERLAND, age 77, of Macon, GA, died peacefully Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, GA. Lynn Ruffo Southerland 1946 - June 7, 2023 He also leaves behind older sisters Judith S. Southerland of Rochester, NY, and Anthony Z. He is survived by his two sons – Wilson T. Together they modeled deep love for each other and a lifelong devotion to God during their 48 years of marriage. Southerland and was her caretaker in hospice until her passing on June 7, 2023. Steve - ‘Stevie’ to childhood friends and family - was a source of love, support, and guidance for so many in the Macon community.
